About Me: Mrs. McLaurin

Howdy! My name is Raynie McLaurin and I will be your son/daughter's school counselor this year.  I graduated with my school counseling degree from Sam Houston State University in May 2016.  I have always had a passion for working with and helping young children.  I began my career in the classroom, but I really felt like I could help more children by working as a school counselor.  My main priority is helping each and every child succeed socially, emotionally and academically.  I am currently a member of the Texas Counseling Association (TCA).  This association is a great way for me to stay informed about topics and events going on with school counseling in Texas.  I look forward to working with you and your children throughout the school year, and my door is always open if you have any questions or concerns.

Together we will have a great school year!

How does a student get reffered to the counselor?

  • Student Self-Refferal

  • Teacher Request

  • Parent Request

  • Administrator Request

I personally believe we can learn so much about a child through his or her actions.  Through past experiences I have learned that a great way for children to express themselves openly is through play.  Over the past years I have attended workshops and took classes that have taught me great play therapy techniques.  When using play therapy, I will be communicating with children through fun activities, such as, role-play, drawing, sand tray, and many other engaging age appropriate manipulatives.  Feel free to stop by anytime to check out my awesome playroom!
